Utrechtlab is not only stationary in the Utrecht Province house but it does travel to other locations to join forces with other laboratories of ideas for workshops and encounters.
The Pop-up was such a success and people really liked the idea of entering a neutral and calming white space. So that they wanted to keep the concept for the future of the Utrechtlab itself and even when it would travel outside its borders. In order to do that, a mobile Utrechtlab originated.
The idea of creating a set of cups began by thinking on how meetings usually take place. People gather around a table with a cup of coffee or tea in their hands. Therefore, mobile Utrechtlab is a set of cups and a table cloth stored in a tailor made case, that recreate the same white realm once used for the Pop-Up.
The 15 cups are all different and each design is based on the 15 strategies of jokes by Sigmund Freud. He studied 15 different creative methods that can be adopted in order to make an effective joke. Therefore, these 15 methods can be applied to different methods of creativity which are based on 15 different individual characters of people. This metaphor was intended to trigger the consciousness of each person holding the cups in realising which kind of thinker they might be and what kind of strategy they bring to the table.
